Newport News Behavioral Health Center is a residential
program, for males and females ages 11-21, consist of a
cognitive behavioral treatment model that encourages
youth to safely explore thoughts and feelings related to
the development of positive and desirable behavior
within their homes and communities. Our programs have
been designed to provide each individual resident
quality mental health treatment in a safe therapeutic
environment.
It is the mission of Newport News Behavioral Health
Center to promote recovery from the effects of abuse,
addiction and other behavioral issues through
specialized treatment interventions provided by a
community of caring professionals.
Newport News Behavioral Health Center has an excellent
career opportunity for an experienced Medicaid
Specialist to join our team of dedicated professionals.
The candidate selected will be responsible for the
following:
aX Must be familiar with and have an understanding of
Virginia DMAS regulations as they relate to Psychiatric
Residential Services; regulations promulgated by CMS as
they relate to patient care, treatment, and services.
aX Performs weekly audits of 100% of all open charts
concurrently to ensure that the medical records
documentation meet the requirements of the regulatory
agencies mentioned above.
aX Prepares in-services and educational programs
necessary to ensure that all levels of direct-care staff
are aware of the regulations and expectations of the
above named organizations.
aX Creates and implements a system to determine if the
education or in-services provided are having an impact
upon staff documentation.
aX Participates directly in an audit of the organization
by the above named agencies and assist with reviewing
the findings to ensure validity, and developing actions
plans.
aX Performs data collection and information presentation
in Quality Counsel for Performance Improvement
activities; files all resident information in
appropriate section of charts.
aX Demonstrates good skills in all forms of
communication. Works well with others in spirit of
teamwork and cooperation.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Human Services
• Significant knowledge of Virginia Medicaid
• Previous experience in medical records and coding or
billing preferred.
• Must be a self starter with the ability to communicate
effectively with other health care professionals, both
verbally and in writing.
